NLRB Nominee Urged Congress to Enact Controversial Card Check Bill
<p>In the aftermath of yesterday’s announcement that certain U.S. Senators would not in fact deploy the “nuclear option,” which would have ended filibusters on executive branch nominees, the White House put forward two new nominations to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). In place of Sharon Block and Richard Griffin, whose Board recess appointments are currently <a href="http://legaltimes.typepad.com/blt/2013/06/supreme-court-will-hear-recess-appointment-dispute.html">under legal challenge</a> at the Supreme Court, the White House nominated former AFL-CIO Associate General Counsel Nancy Schiffer, and Kent Hirozawa, currently counsel to NLRB chairman Mark Pearce.
